Accounts Assistant - Sales Ledger

Spalding, Lincolnshire

£24,500 per annum

This could be a full time (40-hour week) or potentially a part time position (school hours as an example) for the right person.

Hybrid working available - 2/3 days a week from home after probation where needed.

Based in Spalding, this busy and growing commercial business is looking for a permanent Accounts Assistant to join their friendly team. The company have an excellent history of developing staff and encouraging progression.

Above all else, you will be an excellent communicator with strong attention to detail and a hardworking, professional attitude.

Ideally you will have experience of working in a busy finance department with knowledge of credit control and sales ledger duties as well as being confident using excel. The role could also suit an aspiring AAT studier who has an excellent attitude and is keen to learn.

You will be expected to work alongside the wider finance team to provide cover during periods of absence and liaise closely with various intercompany sites and department.

The key duties will be split across the sales ledger and credit control aspects of the business:

  • Raise sales invoices on a daily basis by matching to proof of delivery and adjusting quantities where necessary.
  • Produce EDI files for transmission to large customers ensuring receipt.
  • Post and allocate all sales ledger payments, ensuring that payments are received in accordance to credit terms
  • Chasing of all overdue debt
  • Monitoring all claims received via email or remittance, dispute them and chasing hauliers for copy POD’s were required
  • Obtain authorisation of agreed debit notes in accordance with company policy
  • Liaise with Commercial teams for outstanding debt and resolution of price debit issues
  • Ensure debit note tracker is kept up to date at all times
  • Manage and update customer master files
  • Assist with any ad-hoc duties as required including support for Commercial during peaks.

Ideal Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Fast, accurate data inputting skills
  • Ability to work to very tight deadlines - whilst still maintaining excellent service levels
  • Must have attention to detail and ability to resolve issues on own initiative
  • Good spreadsheet skills
  • Potential to progress beyond this role
