The Opportunity:
Nigel Wright Recruitment is delighted to have been retained by a highly profitable client in the B2B installation, service and maintenance sector.  The organisation provides engineering services, predominantly to the hospitality and leisure sector and has ambitious growth and diversification plans.  Nigel Wright is leading the search for a newly created Head of Commercial, to lead and grow the commercial team and function.  The position will report directly to the Executive Team Functional Director.

Role Profile:
  • Driving the existing commercial team to maximise existing revenue streams whilst delivering service excellence to customers.
  • Shaping and developing the Commercial Team to optimise the operating model.
  • Investigating market opportunities and adjacencies to identify service diversification opportunities.
  • Operating both strategically, with C-Suite stakeholders and also operationally, with direct reports, cross functional colleagues and key customers.
  • Working closely with the finance function to set budgets and to monitor forecast and actual commercial performance V target.
  • Reporting commercial performance and pipeline upline to the Board.
  • Adopting a coaching and development leadership approach, providing reports with autonomy to make decisions and develop their skills and capabilities.
  • This role is seen as strategically important to the growth and diversification plan of the business and there is a significant medium term opportunity for career progression for the successful hire.

Person Specification:
  • A strategic commercial mindset.
  • A B2B commercial background, with a track record of driving growth across multiple revenue streams.
  • A high level of academic achievement with a polished and tangible communication style.
  • Comfortable engaging with main board and c-suite stakeholders in strategic level discussions.
  • A track record of stretching high performers to maximise performance as well as onboarding new hires into newly created positions successfully.
  • Commutable to North Yorkshire 40% to 60% of the time (hybrid working setup).
