Responsive Personnel are pleased to be recruiting again for another leading employer - this time for 2 Mechatronics Technicians for our Grimsby based client.

Reporting to Maintenance Engineering Manager and the Factory Manager the Mechatronic Technician is responsible for the performance of a variety of miscellaneous technical support functions to assist with design, development, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical, electronic and engineering systems.

As a part of the role, the Mechatronics Technician is responsible for assisting in establishing a planned maintenance system to cover the buildings and all production equipment and assisting in maintaining all equipment in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations ensuring minimum down time.

Specific responsibilities and KPI’s will include but bot be limited to the following:

  • Taking overall responsibility for the general daily maintenance, ensuring that a good rate of work is achieved and BRC rules and systems are maintained and recorded, i.e. diagnosing all faults and carrying out remedial/corrective actions in accordance with the required standards
  • Planning and carrying out inspections, repairs and preventive actions ensuring trouble-free operation of machines, technical devices and production lines
  • Handling and diagnosis of inverters - Siemens, Omron, Yaskawa, ABB
  • Performing installation, testing and calibration of machines
  • Undertaking engineering work, including dismantling and re-assembling all production equipment when in need of repair, and as necessary, assisting in maintaining safe and efficient systems within the Company
  • Maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechatronic systems, which integrate mechanical components with electronic control systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Analysis of current technical problems as well as proposing and implementing improvements in terms of automation and mechanics
  • Responding to the maintenance requests in order of priority and ensuring that adequate levels of spares are maintained and effectively used in order to give a high standard of appearance throughout the buildings
  • Cooperation with external services
  • Having a thorough understanding of the site and specifically all items of plant and equipment
  • Constructing and standardising machine parts, tools and instrumentation
  • Spare parts selection and order optimisation
  • Ensuring adequate stock levels of spare parts by responsible planning and regular stock inventory
  • Technical documentation management and the ability to read relevant engineering drawings and specifications to utilise these in fault diagnosis leading to repair PLCs, drives and associated control circuits, pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Ensuring that all work undertaken is done safely and in accordance with the relevant approved codes of practice by adhering to all required hygiene and health and safety rules
  • Assisting in the installation and commissioning of new equipment as necessary
  • Contributing to any special projects that may be required
  • Undertaking any required training needed to maintain safe and effective performance of all the machinery any other associated tasks as required.
