Project and Technical Engineer (Manufacturing / Engineering Services)
Salary: Competitive Base Salary + Benefits - Circa £40-45K

The Requirement

• The company is looking to appoint a professional and proven Project and Technical Engineer to assist the Operations department in ensuring the companies compliance with all relevant
legislation and in any activities that is aimed at achieving the Company’s success as requested by the Directors.
• A Project and Technical Engineer that will be proactive, highly confident in their ability, visible and invested in the future as the company grows. Being positive, driven, and able to work well
with the Production Manager/ Operations Manager/ Director is essential with excellent all round communication skills, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, from all
members of staff through to key customers.
• A Project and Technical Engineer that will ensure projects both in-house and on-site are managed and organised in a cost effective and safe manner ensuring complete customer
satisfaction.

Core Role & Responsibilities

Project Management
• The management and control of orders received from customers ranging from supply only to turnkey contracts consisting of design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning.
• Administration of the site project work areas ensuring at all times that these areas are kept in an efficient and controlled fashion.
• To act on verbal or written instructions received from the Operations department in relation to order processing and discussions in respect to labour allocation rework load and forward
orders.
• Carryout and complete design engineering of contracts from inputs received through the sales department (or from site measurements) to ensure details are prepared and available for the
satisfactory manufacture and installation of product in line with customer expectation.
• Conduct site visits and collect information, specifications, measurements regarding project. Produce Method Statements & risk assessments related to the repair / installation of the
project.
• Carryout design activities using a variety of CAD software and producing information for manufacturing purposes.
• Be part of and assist in specifying the latest design technology in order that the Company is able to harness all available resources’ in meeting its design obligations.
• Assisting with the management and control of orders received from customers ranging from supply only to turnkey contracts consisting of design, manufacture, installation, and
commissioning.
• Implementing contract management policies and procedures to ensure the Gross Margin Profit (50%) of contracts is achieved and bettered, if possible, through cost control
management.
• Cost control throughout contracts in live time.
• Liaison with the sales department ensuring that the estimate of works can be realised in the most cost effective way without compromising on quality or safety.
• Liaison with customers in ensuring that their expectations are not only met but exceeded.
• Assisting with sales activities, building on the back of successful contracts.
• Assisting the sales team in preparing estimates & project specifications and requirements.
• To assist in any activities that is aimed at achieving or enhancing the company success as requested by the shareholders of the company.

Plant and equipment

• Working with Production Manager & Stores personnel to ensure correct plant is available for forthcoming projects Material Control
• Review material usages on contracts assisting in ensuring that materials are readily available in line with contractual requirements to fulfil the Companies contractual obligations. Procure
materials that meet the project specification, quantity, and price.
• Ensure efficient utilisation of materials, minimising scrap, and waste through design.
• The production of requisitions for materials and services associated with the material requirements for the manufacture of products.

Productivity
• Review efficiency of site and manufacturing operations to ensure Quality, Cost and Delivery schedules are met.
• In conjunction with other colleagues initiate productivity improvements where practical

Personnel
• Motivate and encourage all personnel in their tasks to promote a H&S, QCD driven & conscious workforce.
• Introduce total flexibility in terms of production skills and functions to promote a multi skilled workforce.

Quality
• Adherence and implementation of all Quality procedures involved with in process and on-site manufacture
• Verify that quality standards are understood and achieved by the relevant working party.
• Implementing corrective actions as identified during Quality Management meetings and audits
• Promote quality awareness and responsibility throughout the business.

Health And Safety
• Ensure Operator safety by assessing the works and implementing relevant safety measures.
• Implement and achieve acceptable housekeeping standards.
• To ensure the companies H&S and Environmental policies are implemented and adhered to within the works facilities

General
• To assist the Operations department in ensuring the companies compliance with all relevant legislation
• To assist in any activities that is aimed at achieving the Company’s success as requested by the Directors.

Expertise & Fit
• Proven project and technical experience, ideally with similar size SME’s or slightly larger
• Likely to be a Project and Technical Engineer or equivalent from an engineering fabrication company in the West Midlands - ideally, experience of fitting / servicing equipment
• Someone with mechanical understanding and solid manufacturing industry knowledge, that is able to talk knowledgably and credibly with staff and the target customer base
• Understanding of site services, able to be out there with customers and advising accordingly as well as back at site
• Culturally, a strong fit with the size of business and nature of the environment
