This role is a 9 month FTC. Based in London and reporting to the team lead, the main purpose of the role is to ensure that trades are registered, netted and settled at various Central Securities Depositories (CSD's) and International CSD's. The role requires the individual to liaise with members, agents, CSD's and ICSD's to ensure that settlement occurs in a timely manner and all trades and positions are successfully reconciled.

Key Responsibilities
  • To perform daily functions to ensure that trades are registered, netted and settled within specific deadlines ensuring all daily checklists are fully and correctly completed in accordance with procedures.
  • To monitor and process corporate actions for cash Equities ensuring that LCH is protected from any risk and meets its delivery obligations.
  • Actively monitor bond and equity settlement positions in all of LCH's markets, investigate issues or delays and take appropriate remedial action whilst ensuring risks are managed and internal and external policies are adhered to.
  • Communicate with Clearing Members as necessary when issues are identified
  • Liaise with external service providers, CSDs, ICSDs and settlement agents as necessary to raise and investigate issues
  • Identify and record operational issues and champion them until final resolution, raising incidents and escalating to line manager appropriately
  • Have an excellent understanding of the RepoClear and EquityClear products from trade registration through to settlement in terms of service offering and internal operational processes, including knowledge of the underlying financial instruments and corporate actions.
  • Have an excellent understanding of the default management responsibilities and where necessary participate in companywide annual fire drill exercises
  • Work closely with other operational and business teams as required to complete operational tasks and build knowledge of different departments and processes in order to develop business understanding
  • Answer Clearing Member queries in a timely manner and provide a best in class customer service through excellent communication skills and service knowledge both on the phone and email.
  • To build relationships with Clearing Members in particular those who undertake Repo and Equity business with LCH
  • Identify self development areas on an ongoing basis and put in place action plans to develop with agreed deadlines with line manager. Constantly strive to develop knowledge and understanding of the role and proactively learning to become a subject matter expert. Full understanding of operational issues and incidents is key.
  • Manage own workload independently and perform duties without supervision, assisting other team members where capacity allows.
  • Assist manager on new initiatives and ensure that the correct controls, processes, procedures are in place to ensure that the department is not exposed to any operational risk.
  • Ensure nostro and depot accounts are reconciled on a daily basis and to accurately fund where appropriate to avoid overdraft charges. Any breaks should be accounted for on the day or where necessary followed up until resolution on a subsequent day.
  • Identify and implement ways to save costs, improve processes and create efficiencies in the team BAU.
  • Assist in the identification of appropriate controls to comply with the internal operational risk control framework.
  • Ensure internal procedures are followed, correct, reviewed regularly and kept up to date.
  • To participate in Internal Audit reviews within the department as required.
  • Ensure that the department's security policy, controls and guidelines are adhered to at all times including company email confidentiality protocols.
  • Awareness of the department's business continuity policy, processes and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the department's Service Level Agreements/Rules/Regulations and other Procedures.
  • Ensure that clearing member performance is monitored and any issues are escalated to line manager accordingly.
  • Good understanding of the incident management process to ensure that incidents are raised and reported accurately and in a timely fashion, having regard for the requirements of readers of the reports particularly in relation to understanding and relevance.
  • Be flexible with working hours covering different shift patterns between the hours of 7:00 and 20:00
Candidate Profile / Key Skills
  • Good GCSE and A level results.
  • Advanced Excel Skills essential.
  • Some knowledge of CSD/ICSD processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of SWIFT messaging beneficial.
  • Exposure of working in a back office/settlements environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) essential.
  • Must be proactive and strive to develop their knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis
  • Must be able to work independently and with their team.
