Job Description: We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Director to join our team. As the Technical Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the design and delivery of solar projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Candidates with a background in mechanical or engineering disciplines, particularly within the solar industry, are highly encouraged to apply. Additionally, experience in facilities management will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and delivery of solar projects, from conception to completion.
  • Manage a comprehensive program of works, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required specifications.
  • Utilize your technical expertise to provide guidance and support to project teams, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to assess project progress, address technical challenges, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including project managers, engineers, and procurement specialists, to optimize project performance and efficiency.
  • Maintain a keen attention to detail and ensure adherence to quality control procedures at all stages of project development.
  • Act as a point of contact for contractors and external partners, fostering positive relationships and resolving any issues or conflicts that may arise.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the solar industry, with a strong understanding of solar energy systems and technologies.
  • Previous experience in facilities management will be advantageous.
  • Project management background or relevant qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) are desirable.
  • Tech-savvy individual with a solid understanding of digital tools and software used in project management and design.
  • Familiarity with retrofit commercial projects and experience dealing with contractors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to overcoming technical challenges.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Based in Leeds or West Yorkshire, with occasional travel required for site visits and project meetings.
